What is the Blind Tap Tool used for?

The Crownserts blind tap tool is used after the hole has been drilled and before the Crownsert is installed.

Its purpose is to cut the internal thread in a blind hole, where the hole does not pass completely through the material. This is different from a tap-through tool, which is used where the tap can continue through the full hole depth.

In blind-hole installations, the tap must create enough full thread depth for the Crownsert to engage correctly. The Crownserts reference tables therefore list a separate blind tap tool part number next to the tap-through tool for each compatible Crownsert size.

The correct blind tap tool should always be selected by Crownsert part number. This helps ensure the prepared thread matches the required installation depth before the insert is screwed in and swaged.
