Crownserts tooling
Select the correct Crownserts tooling for hole preparation, tapping and installation.
Tools are recommended by Crownsert® part number and support the consolidated metric and imperial series, including CSSM, CSXM, CSHM, CSS, CSX, CS and CSH.
The correct tooling sequence helps prepare the hole, create the installation thread and complete the swaging operation in a controlled and repeatable way.

Crownserts Tooling Categories
Use the correct drilling, tapping and installation tools to achieve reliable Crownserts performance.
Step Drill Tools
Step drills prepare the correct hole geometry before tapping and installation. They help create consistent hole quality and reduce the need for multiple separate drilling operations.
Tap-Through Tools

Tap-through tools create the internal thread required for Crownserts installation in through-hole applications where the hole passes completely through the material.
Blind Tap Tools

Blind tap tools help achieve the required full thread depth in blind-hole installations where the hole does not pass completely through the component.
Hand Installation Tools

Hand installation tools are matched to each Crownserts series and size for accurate installation and swaging of the insert into the parent material.
Drive Wrench Tools

Drive wrench tools are used to screw the Crownsert into the prepared and tapped hole before swaging. 4-point wrenches are used for non-locking inserts, while 6-point wrenches are used for locking inserts.
Swage Tools
Swage Tools are used after the insert has been wrenched into the prepared hole. They apply downward force to set the external locking feature into the parent material and secure the insert in place.
After-Swage Gages

After-swage gages are used after the insert has been installed and swaged. They verify that the swage operation and installed depth are within the acceptable condition for the selected Crownserts® insert family.
Removal Tools / Drills
Removal Tools and drills are used when an installed Crownsert® must be replaced. They drill the swaged locking area to the required depth, allowing the insert to be backed out in a controlled way.

Recommended Tooling by Crownsert Part Number
Each Crownsert should be matched with the correct tooling combination.
Recommended tools can include a step drill, tap-through tool, blind tap tool and hand-installation tool depending on the insert series and installation type.
This makes it easier to connect each Crownsert® product page with the tooling required for accurate drilling, tapping and swaging.
