What is the Tap-Through Tool used for?

The Crownserts tap-through tool is used after the step drill operation to cut the internal thread for the Crownsert.

It is used for through-hole installations, where the hole passes completely through the parent material. In this type of hole, the tap can continue through the full depth, helping create the required thread engagement for the insert.

Compared with a blind tap tool, the tap-through tool is intended for holes where there is open clearance at the bottom. Blind holes require a separate blind tap tool so the required full thread depth can be achieved without running through the material.

The correct tap-through tool is selected by Crownsert part number. After tapping, the Crownsert is installed into the prepared thread and then swaged to lock it in place.
